8 Month Old

My 8-month old is very quiet. She is happy and makes excellent eye contact. She squeals with delight and coos and oooohs.

She does not babble, though, and we have not heard any consonants. She possible imitates us saying "hi" but we aren't sure if she really is or if we are imagining it.

We await the audiologist scheduling an appointment with us.

In the meantime, what activities can I do with her to encourage her, help her progress?

Thank you,
Elisabeth

Definitely have your baby's hearing tested, and schedule an evaluation with a speech-Language Pathologist.

In the meantime, see if you can get headphones with a microphone attached to it (or wireless that will work with the mic.

See if your baby would let you put the headphones on. If she does, say sounds/words, into the microphone and see if she attempts to repeat these.
