Is A Speech Therapist Salary Very High?

How Much Money Do SLPs Make?

Just like the people and places that we work with, a Speech Therapist salary is dependent on different factors. Some of these include:

  • years of experience

  • who they work for

  • what setting they work in

  • what state/city they live in

  • who they work for

  • having a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)

  • having a Doctorate in Speech Language Pathology

In May 2008 the The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported the following about Speech Pathologists salary:

  1. The middle 50% earned between $50,330 and $79,620

  2. The lowest 10% earned less than $41,240

  3. The highest 10% percent earned more than $99,220

According to the Bureau's statistics, skilled nursing facilities were the highest paying setting to work in, with home health care services running a close second.

A Speech Language Pathologist certainly doesn't make as much as a corporate CEO, but then again...

...who does?
