2.5 Year old won't say "u"

by Rachael
(Webster groves, mo, usa)

My son will not say "i love you", he replaces the you with me and when we work on the "u" sound it seems like it takes a lot of effort and then he will get frustrated and say the word me again. He can say all other vowels and talks a ton, tells stories, can follow direction but I am starting to be concerned over this. Does anyone have any advice or insight or should I call his doctor?
