Behavior Assessment Battery for School-Aged children Who Stutter (BAB)



The Behavior Assessment Battery for School-Aged Children Who Stutter (BAB) is designed to provide valid and reliable measures in regard to a child’s affective, behavioral, and cognitive reactions to his or her speech.  There are three tests to this assessment battery which include the Speech Situation Checklist, the Behavior Checklist, and the Communication Attitude Test.  Each test in this assessment battery is independently scored and is completed through a self-reported format to children 6-15 years of age.  Each self-reported test will entail a total score that can be interpreted by comparing it to the score of an average child who does not stutter.  A total test score which is 2 or more standard deviations (SD) above the average mean for that population would be considered atypical. 


Speech Situation Checklist:

Section I : Emotional Reaction is designed to measure the reported extent to which a child tends to experience negative feelings in a range of different speech situations.
