What Does it Take to be a Speech Pathologist?

by Whitney Willetts
(Boone, NC)

Hello all, I am attending Appalachian State University and I will be a second semester sophomore in the spring.

I have always been interested in working with children and I have observed a Speech Pathologist before.

Can you give me any information regarding the field? Also, what is required school wise to have a degree in this field? I know I have to receive a masters degree.

I do not want to work in the medical field. Is it possible to work in elementary schools or daycares?

Thank you! Any info is greatly appreciated!

Or get to it from a link on the SLP Facts page on the left hand side.
