Seven Year Old Replaces /F/ with /TH/ Sounds (Not Vice Versa)

by Alison M
(Herndon, VA)

My son turns seven in less than a month and says the /TH/ sound for both words with 'th' and with 'f' at the beginning, middle, or end.

He used to say the /F/ sound before this school year, but not appropriately (sometimes used it instead of /TH/). He may have dyslexia, but can't be tested for it yet due to his young age.

Is this a red flag?
