Can changing my accent cause a sore throat?

by Maria

I'm not a native English speaker and I first learned American English, so I had an American accent (sort of the "standard" northern American one).

Recently, though, I've been teaching myself an English accent (Estuary-ish) and practicing it a lot, and I've been getting a sore throat every day.

Could it be caused by the accent thing? What can I do about it?
